New England Talent Search

NETS was begun in 2006. It is a program of study, 75% business and 25% performance. It offers a remarkably high caliber of interactive education which targets an extremely diverse student body its goal is to involve all NETS students in a program of study that will achieve their fullest potential as individuals and as specialists in their chosen fields of vocation. NETS will provide the tools that will increase the students GPA, make high school graduation an attainable reality, and ensure a future of either advanced study or gainful employment. 

NETS offers a program which serves the whole person - intellectual, artistic, and personal - which leads to being a highly productive member of society. NETS courses focus on entrepreneurial business skills in such key areas as: financial literacy, business start-up and development, marketing, public relations, sales, critical thinking, and communications, etc., with internship options, which all lead to successful vocational choices. 

High School Orchestra

NETS is designed to move its participants forward. It assists its students to become confident in their personal talents and to utilize their gifts to the benefit of both themselves and the larger society. To this end, NETS offers both tutoring and specialized courses as well as hands on practical workshops, which give each student the opportunity to put into practice the concepts and understandings being taught each week. The workshop environment is intended to foster good work habits and refine interpersonal skills; It also provides the opportunity to meet “professionals” from various fields. Work is monitored and evaluated so that the highest possible growth can be attained. 

 

NETS is a state-wide program revolving around Connecticut's 15+ most urban areas, which include Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, Willimantic, Putnam, Norwich, New London, New Britain, Middletown, Meriden, Waterbury, Torrington, Danbury, Stamford, and Norwalk. 

In the communities that surround each of these cities, are post high school 2- and 4-year institutions, various governmental offices, trade in technical schools, as well as corporations and businesses of many sizes and shapes with which NETS can coordinate programs and activities. 

 

NETS links these entities together: colleges and universities for foundational studies; Businesses for work/study or internship; public and private entities, of all sizes, for employment options in such areas as events management, or historical / educational / cultural exhibits, or the recreation or leisure fields: broadcast / sound technician, archivist, stage manager, fundraiser, musician, curator, events booking, producer, maintenance, camera operator, etc. 

 

NETS is a program of guidance and opportunity which leads to employment choices within an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive for all participants.
